The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The Sowbelly burn scar in...
Southwestern Delta County in west central Colorado...
Southeastern Mesa County in west central Colorado...
Northern Montrose County in west central Colorado...

* Until 430 PM MDT.

* At 351 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain over the Sowbelly Burn Scar. Between 0.2 and 0.5 inches
of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.6 to 1.2
inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through Escalante Creek. The debris flow can consist of rock,
mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Dangerous flash flooding and debris flows are possible
in and downstream the Sowbelly Burn Scar.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Dangerous flash flooding of areas in and around the
Sowbelly Burn Scar.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Escalante Creek, Dry Fork Escalante Creek and Gunnison River.
</description><instruction>Heavy rainfall can cause extensive and severe flash flooding of
creeks...streams...and ditches in and downstream the Sowbelly Burn
Scar. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you
encounter flood waters...climb to safety.

Move away from recently burned areas. Dangerous flooding of creeks,
roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains will
likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.</instruction><web>http://www.weather.gov</web><parameter><valueName>AWIPSidentifier</valueName><value>FFWGJT</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WMOidentifier</valueName><value>WGUS55 KGJT 302151</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDetection</valueName><value>RADAR INDICATED</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDamageThreat</valueName><value>CONSIDERABLE</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>EAS</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>NWEM</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>EAS-ORG</valueName><value>WXR</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>VTEC</valueName><value>/O.NEW.KGJT.FF.W.0003.250730T2151Z-250730T2230Z/</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>eventEndingTime</valueName><value>2025-07-30T16:30:00-06:00</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WEAHandling</valueName><value>Imminent Threat</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>CMAMtext</valueName><value>NWS: FLASH FLOOD WARNING this area til 4:30 PM MDT.
