The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Avery County in western North Carolina...
Northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...
West Central Caldwell County in western North Carolina...

* Until 100 PM EDT Sunday.

* At 629 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a line of training cells
producing torrential rainfall entering northwestern Burke and
southeastern Avery counties. This rainfall will be capable of
producing 1-2 inches in less than an hour over saturated soils.
This rainfall may cause additional, significant rises on area
streams, including the Linville River from Grandfather Mountain to
Linville and Pineola; Wilson Creek near Edgemont; and Warrior Fork
from Jonas Ridge to Table Rock, quickly exacerbating ongoing Minor
flooding. Significant, Moderate flooding, potentially impacting
some structures and causing significant travel disruptions, may
develop quickly over the next 30-90 minutes. If you are near a
creek or stream, seek higher ground now!

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams.
Expect significant flooding of adjacent low-lying areas,
including parks, trails, low-water crossings, boat-access
areas, and campgrounds. Flooding of some crawl spaces and
basements is possible with potential flooding of
first-floors in residences and businesses near streams.
Evacuations may be needed. An isolated landslide or two
cannot be ruled out.

* Some locations that may experience significant flash flooding
include...
Crossnore, Table Rock, Linville Falls, Lake James State Park, Jonas
Ridge and Edgemont.
</description><instruction>Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The additional heavy rain will increase the risk of landslides and
debris flows, especially in areas where landslides have occurred in
the past. Be especially alert if you live near a stream, particularly
at the base of a mountain or in a cove. Watch for signs that a
landslide may be imminent, including loose-moving soil and rocks or a
sudden increase in streamflow. Stay indoors and do NOT go outside to
investigate. Escape vertically inside your home by moving upstairs or
getting on top of counters to avoid being swept away.</instruction><web>http://www.weather.gov</web><parameter><valueName>AWIPSidentifier</valueName><value>FFWGSP</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WMOidentifier</valueName><value>WGUS52 KGSP 111029</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDetection</valueName><value>RADAR INDICATED</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDamageThreat</valueName><value>CONSIDERABLE</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>EAS</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>NWEM</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>EAS-ORG</valueName><value>WXR</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>VTEC</valueName><value>/O.EXT.KGSP.FF.W.0021.000000T0000Z-261011T1700Z/</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>eventEndingTime</valueName><value>2026-10-11T13:00:00-04:00</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WEAHandling</valueName><value>Imminent Threat</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>CMAMtext</valueName><value>NWS: FLASH FLOOD WARNING this area til 1:00 PM EDT.
