The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The Northwest Portion of Lee Burn Scar in...
Central Rio Blanco County in northwestern Colorado...

* Until 615 PM MDT.

* At 450 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain over the Northwest Portion of Lee Burn Scar. Between
0.2 and 0.4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate
is 1 to 1.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the warning area will cause mud slides near
steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock, mud, vegetation
and other loose materials.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding in and around the Northwest
Portion of Lee Burn Scar.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around
the Northwest Portion of Lee Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Northwest Portion of the Lee burn scar and adjacent areas along
Highway 64.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Strawberry Creek, Smith Gulch, Dry Fork Piceance Creek, and Hay
Gulch
</description><instruction>This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and
ditches in the Northwest Portion of Lee Burn Scar. Severe debris
flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may
be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to
safety.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.</instruction><web>http://www.weather.gov</web><parameter><valueName>AWIPSidentifier</valueName><value>FFWGJT</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WMOidentifier</valueName><value>WGUS55 KGJT 162250</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDetection</valueName><value>RADAR INDICATED</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>flashFloodDamageThreat</valueName><value>CONSIDERABLE</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>EAS</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>BLOCKCHANNEL</valueName><value>NWEM</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>EAS-ORG</valueName><value>WXR</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>VTEC</valueName><value>/O.NEW.KGJT.FF.W.0038.250916T2250Z-250917T0015Z/</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>eventEndingTime</valueName><value>2025-09-16T18:15:00-06:00</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>WEAHandling</valueName><value>Imminent Threat</value></parameter><parameter><valueName>CMAMtext</valueName><value>NWS: FLASH FLOOD WARNING this area til 6:15 PM MDT.
